Mingjiada Supply ADI LTC1864 And LTC1864L Series µPower 16-Bit Analog-To-Digital Converters
In portable instruments, industrial sensing and battery-powered data acquisition systems, it is often necessary to balance 16-bit precision with low power consumption. ADI’s LTC1864/LTC1864L series of ultra-low-power 16-bit A/D converters, with features such as high precision, a compact package, differential inputs and automatic shutdown, are the ideal choice for low-power, high-precision data acquisition designs. Mingjiada Electronics has long supplied this series of devices, providing a stable supply for both R&D selection and mass production procurement.
Product Overview
The LTC1864 and LTC1864L are both 16-bit successive approximation (SAR) analogue-to-digital converters. They are single-supply devices with integrated sample-and-hold circuits and support single-channel differential inputs. Both communicate with MCUs, DSPs or FPGAs via SPI/Microwire-compatible serial interfaces and feature an auto-shutdown function, which significantly reduces average power consumption in intermittent sampling applications.
LTC1864: 5V supply, 16-bit resolution, 250 ksps sampling rate; suitable for 5V systems requiring higher speeds.
LTC1864L: 3V supply, 16-bit resolution, 150 ksps sampling rate, designed for low-voltage, low-power portable devices.
Both devices are available in compact MSOP-8 and SO-8 packages, support an external reference voltage, and allow designers to flexibly configure the input range according to system requirements, striking a balance between accuracy, power consumption and cost.
Key Features:
16-bit high precision
- Provides 16-bit lossless performance, suitable for precision measurement, sensor signal acquisition and industrial process control.
Low-power operation
- The LTC1864 typically consumes approximately 850 µA at 250 ksps; the LTC1864L typically consumes approximately 450 µA at 150 ksps. With a shutdown current as low as 1 µA, they are ideal for battery-powered devices.
Differential Input
- The single-channel differential input architecture effectively suppresses common-mode interference, enhancing small-signal acquisition quality.
High-Speed Serial Interface
- Features an SPI/Microwire-compatible serial interface that requires minimal I/O resources, facilitating connection to mainstream microcontrollers and digital signal processors.
Automatic Shutdown
- Automatically enters a low-power state after each conversion, making it particularly suitable for intermittent data acquisition and remote monitoring terminals.
Compact Package for Easy Integration
- The MSOP-8 and SO-8 packages effectively save PCB space, making them suitable for high-density embedded designs.
Industrial-Grade Reliability
- Supports an industrial-grade temperature range, making it suitable for applications such as industrial control, medical instruments and portable meters.
